Dr Joanne Crossley

Consultant Clinical Psychologist

Dr Crossley is a registered Clinical Psychologist with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and a Chartered Psychologist and Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society (BPS)

In addition to a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology, Dr Crossley holds a PhD from the University of Liverpool in the field of neuropsychology and a BSc in Psychology with first-class honours from the University of Manchester.

Dr Crossley has been studying and working in the field of psychology and mental health for 20 years. She has worked in a range of settings with people of all ages and backgrounds who are struggling with a wide range of difficulties. She has experience of working in the NHS and in University settings in clinical research roles. She has published her research on the cognitive, psychological and psychosocial impacts of epilepsy extensively, including presenting her research at national and international conferences.

Since qualifying as a Clinical Psychologist in 2016, she has specialised in working with children, young people and their families. She has worked in a Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) and was Clinical Lead for a Paediatric Psychology Service.

Dr Crossley is trained to use a number of different psychological models and therapies in her work but has completed further training in using Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT) with young people. She has particular interests in anxiety, depression and helping children and families adjust to and cope with living with long-term chronic health conditions.
